Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) is a high-speed point-to-point connection between the video card and the computer's motherboard. It is faster than PCI and has direct access to system memory. There for, the computer's memory can be used in addition to the video card's memory.
Accelerated Graphics Port is designed to improve performance of 3D graphics applications. Accelerated Graphics Port specification was developed by Intel Corporation and introduced AGP into a chipset for its Pentium microprocessor.
