ALGOL 【Algorithmic Language】

ALGOL is an acronym for ALGOrithmic Language. It was originally developed in the earlier part of 1960. ALGOL was developed jointly by a committee of European and American computer scientists in a meeting in 1958 at ETH Zurich. ALGOL was mostly used in East European countries.

ALGOL uses bracketed statement blocks and was the first language to use begins end pairs for delimiting them. There are three official main branches of ALGOL family namely ALGOL 58, ALGOL 60 and ALGOL 68.
