The American National Standards Institute is a private nonprofit organization that oversees develops national consensus standards for a wide variety of products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the United States.

The American National Standards Institute is supported by over 1,000 companies, professional societies, consumer groups, labor organizations, trade organizations and government agencies. American National Standards Institute (ANSI) represents the interests of more than 125,000 companies and 3.5 million professionals. The organization also coordinates U.S. standards with international standards so that American products can be used worldwide.

ANSI is the official U.S. representative to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
