JEDEC is a standardization organization founded in 1960. It is the semiconductor engineering standardization body of the Electronic Industries Alliance. JEDEC is the leading developer of standards for the solid-state industry.
JEDEC was created as a joint activity between EIA an NEMA, to cover the standardization of discrete semiconductor devices. It was later expanded in 1970 to include integrated circuits. There are almost 3100 participants, appointed by some 290 companies work together in 50 JEDEC committees to meet the needs of every segment of the industry.
