Semiconductor

Semiconductor is a substance that electrical properties lay between those of conductors and insulators. It is a generic name for devices like transistors and integrated circuits that can control the flow of electrical signals. Semiconductor can control electrical conductivity over a wide range, either permanently or dynamically. One of the most common semiconductor materials is silicon and it is the basic material for building most chips.

Semiconductor devices are essential in modern electronic devices such as computers, cellular phones, digital audio players, etc. semiconductors are the basis of modern microprocessors and standard digital technologies.
