Trinitron

Trinitron is a technology developed by Sony Corporation for its line of aperture grille cathode ray tube televisions and computer monitors. Sony invented the design in the 1960s and used in televisions. Sony first released Trinitron computer monitor in 1982.

Trinitron has been continuously developed and refined by Sony. Trinitron design has helped the company lead the market in the manufacturing of TVs and computer monitors. Sony Trinitron computer monitors have also been re-branded and distributed by Apple Computer, Dell, Digital Equipment Corporation, Gateway, IBM, Silicon Graphics, and Sun Microsystems, among others.
