VML
full spelling : Vector Markup Language
VML is an acronym for Vector Markup Language. It is a XML language used to produce vector graphics. VML supports the markup of vector graphic information in the same way that HTML supports the markup of textual information. VML is written using the syntax of XML.
Vector Markup Language or VML was developed by Microsoft and Macromedia. VML was submitted as a proposed standard to the W3C on 13 May 1998. Adobe and Sun Microsystems submitted a competing proposal known as PGML same time. VML and PGML were not adopted as recommendation by the W3C. VML and PGML were joined and improved upon to create SVG. Microsoft still implements VML into Internet Explorer 5.0 and higher.
