XGA

full spelling : eXtended Graphics Array

The Extended Graphics Array or XGA is display standard introduced by IBM in 1990. XGA refers to an image resolution size of 1024 x 768 pixels. The initial version of XGA was extended VGA to 132-column text and interlaced 1,024x768x256 resolution. XGA offered fixed function hardware acceleration to offload processing of 2D drawing tasks.

The Extended Graphics Array gives a sharper image than VGA. XGA-2 later added non-interlaced 1,024x768x64K. All XGA modes have a 4:3 aspect ratio rounded to 8 pixels.
