video card
alias : video adapter,video board
Video card is an extension card attached to personal computers which adds screen play functions. It is composed of a memory (VRAM) to keep picture images and a terminal to connect with displays. Video cards make differences of maximum picture resolution, maximum number of displayed colors, and maximum number of vibration (refresh rate). Lately, dedicated communication circuits to speed up picture processing of 3-dimensional computer graphics have been loaded too. Although many computers are already loaded with picture processing functions on their motherboard, in most cases the functions can be stopped and video card with higher quality can be added later.
